The Five Points Whiskey & Alehouse is a cosy and lively bar based in the heart of Belfast. Having opened their doors in October 2016 after a huge refurbishment and rebrand from the very talented guys at Kubrix Design, they have filled a space in the Belfast bar scene. Somewhere comfortable to go and relax with friends. With a focus on whiskey and ale, accompanied by roaring fires and live music, this welcoming bar has everything you need for a good night out.
We were tasked with designing and building a new website for The Five Points which encapsulated the traditional and historic vision of the bar. With this in mind, we decided to focus on a colour palette with mainly dark grey, brown and off-white to give the impression of aged elements.
Built in WordPress, this website is incredibly easy to update with multiple logins of different administrative levels and access. Staff can log into the website and update or add a new menu or event without having to write one piece of code. As with all our sites, we tailored the back end of the website to The Five Points specific needs and level of experience.
The main features on The Five Points website is a list of events, menus and the functionality to book a table, class or inform the bar about a band or musician. Instead of adding a page each for the booking forms, which would create a lot of redundant space on the website as well as clutter the sitemap, we built one form with conditional options – meaning if it’s only a band booking the user is interested in, the form fields will rearrange to include options specific to that action. The booking form is also routed depending on selections to different members of The Five Points staff, which cuts down on administrative overhead on their end.
Being that The Five Points host live music every night of the week, it goes without saying that there could be a lot of administration and time spent updating this section of the website to reflect the latest information. To minimise this administrative overhead, we installed a system which allows the staff at The Five Points to create events in bulk, and then edit the finer details per event thereafter.
