Now, more than ever, your users are aware of the potential security risk of entering data onto your website (like using a form or purchasing something).
This is why it is so important that you have taken all security measures available to ensure your website is protected from hackers.
It's all in the build
Security begins with how the site is built and who builds it. Our team take great pride in ensuring all security measures are covered whilst building a site from the ground up.
Some of the steps to consider are:
- Login screen URL
- FTP file permissions
- Honeypot validation
There are many, many types of hosting available which range from £2 a month to whatever you are willing to pay. At Big Pixel Creative, we only use GDPR approved, dedicated, UK based servers which are the most secure possible.
Our servers also run daily backups so should anything get through our wall of security, it won't be long before you're back up and running.
Ever noticed that little green lock icon at the very top of the screen beside your domain name? If you have one – good. If you don’t have one – we need to talk.
SSL certificates are becoming a Google requirement from July 2018 onwards. That means if you don’t have an SSL certificate, Google will show a warning to all users stating “This site is unsafe”. “How do I get an SSL certificate?” you may ask.
If you have a professional website hosting company, adding an SSL certificate to your domain will not be an issue. There are of course many options and security levels regarding certificates but for a standard brochure website, it is not an expensive add-on but an absolutely essential one.
The first time you usually realise a website has been compromised is when you get a telephone call from a customer to say "is my website offline?" By that stage, it is too late. Our automated alerts will notify us at Big Pixel HQ the very second a site is either offline or hacked and we'll have it fixed before you can say "BIG PIXEL ARE THE BEST".
